Confirm the active structure
Open the rules and identify whether lines are fixed, adjustable or replaced by ways. For adjustable lines, check whether reducing the line count can make some symbol combinations ineligible. For ways, confirm the required starting reel and whether symbols must land on consecutive reels.
Translate stake into round cost
Some games show stake per line, while others show one total bet. Change the setting once and watch the displayed total before spinning. The useful comparison is total cost per round, not the smallest coin value shown beside one line or reel.
Read special-symbol exceptions
Scatters may pay anywhere, wilds can substitute only for certain symbols, and expanding reels can change the number of ways during a feature. These exceptions belong to the selected game version; do not copy the rule from a similar-looking title.
Set a session in rounds
Divide the planned entertainment budget by total round cost to estimate a maximum number of spins. That estimate is not a prediction of returns, but it makes line and ways settings comparable and prevents a small-looking unit stake from hiding a larger total.
